Material:Paper which Dutschke matches by watermarks dated 1456, 1488, 1449.

Signatures:Quire signatures of letters and roman numerals on same line as last line of text but all way to outer edge of page and often cropped, eg 'd j' on f32, 'd' and bit of first 'i'on f33, etc.

Marginal Headings:By same hand as text, in bastard anglicana, and marginal glosses also in hand of scribe.
Title by Scribe:At the top of f1, partly cropped, the scribe writes, ''.hocclyf composuit a Rege henrico quinto'.
Flourished Initials:On f1 a 4-line initial in red with blue-green flourishing forming box around with scalloped edges on top only. Other initials of 2 or 3 lines' height in same style on ff32, 40, 49 in art. 1 only (ie Regiment). Otherwise unembellished.
Other Names (not owners):Dutschke notes Thomas Parrsie, gent on f12 (16th c), Thomas Cattfields on f25 (16th c.), Henry Smith on f1 (17th c), and others of later date (1.181).
Miscellaneous Info:Dutschke notes 'Obvious wear and soil on ff1 and 82v suggest that art. 1 was once a separate volume. But she also notes that both parts are apparently by the same scribe (1.181). Pentrials by scribe and others include alphabet on f28v; 4 lines of verse relating to Thomas Caryate (17th c) on f32; 2 lines of verse cropped off ends of lines on f47.
Further Information:Dutschke 1.180-181. Dutschke notes 'Although the leaf which would have contained the Chaucer portrait (with stanzas 712-716) is missing, the manuscript does not appear luxurious enough to have had one.' (1.181).
