Pagination:Foliation modern pencil in upper outer corners recto, very small, 1-80.

Catchwords:By scribe lower margin, its centre about same as ends of lines, in large crudely drawn scrolls in same ink as text. No scroll on ff56v, 64v or 72v, and no catchword on f80v (blank last leaf of MS).

Frame:1 x vertical as left margin, 2 x horizontal above top line and below bottom one; sometimes text does not take up all framed space but blank space below bottom line before frame line; not ruled, no pricking; fine grey lines.

Marginal Headings:On f30 in upper margin by scribe, ' Hic incipit prologus de Principum regimine
f32 by scribe 'Hic Tractat de Principum regimine incipiendo de fide seruanda'. Extensive marginal glosses probably original to Hoccleve, by scribe, same ink and size writing.
Flourished Initials:Red and blue flourished initials. On f1, 7-line blue lombard initial with red pen-work flourishing. Prologue on f30 begins with 5-line blue initial similarly flourished. Regiment proper begins f32 with a 3-line blue initial similarly flourished; at subheadings of Regiment, 2-line blue initials similarly flourished as on ff58, 65, 78v.
Other Names (not owners):None; on f80v at top in box, scribe writes, 'Jhesu Maria / Helpe me / Amen'. 19th century owners included William Constable, Esq, 1888 (bookplate front pastedown); W. A. Amherst 1889 (bookplate back pastedown and dated signature'Saenger mis-transcribes as 'Andrews'); in library of Lord Amherst of Hackney d. 1908, his bookplate removed in rebinding, see de Ricci, A Hand-list of a Collection of Books and Manuscripts Belonging to the Right Honourable Lord Amherst of Hackney (Cambridge, 1906), p. 4, and English Collectors, pp. 165-6; then owned by Wilfred Merton 1920 (bookplate front pastedown), Louis Silver (bookplate front pastedown) and bought from him by Newberry in 1964 (Saenger).
Miscellaneous Info:NB includes 'Cest tout' after end on f79r (Hoccleve's usual explicit), but not written by Hoccleve's hand.
