Usage: thanne
the scribe's usual form of double compartment 'a' with flat head.

looped 'd' is the conventional graph.

sometimes the loop of 'd' spreads backwards over the previous letter.

anglicana double compartment 'g' is used throughout.

final 'g' with virgule attached. The short stroke at the upper right of the lower compartment curves upwards. This has the effect of leaving an overhang which continues on up, with a fine stroke which often connects with the horizontal slash.

the abbreviative mark for the plural is attached to the end of the horizontal slash.

the scribe's 'h' either has a limb from which the tail-stroke curves to the left and is of varying length, or appears as in version 2 where it turns counter-clockwise.

long 's' in initial position. It is often possible to see an approach stroke to the head as well as a protuberance on the left side of the stem.
