Usage: alle
double compartment 'a' is used throughout.

the word is within the text but copied in red ink.

upper case 'A' at the beginning of a line.
 
D
Usage: dome
looped 'd' is used throughout. The lobe is usually very angular.
Usage: world
'd' in final position is tagged.

occasionally the scribe extends the loop of 'd' backwards over previous graphs.
 
G

'g' is double compartment throughout.

The lower compartment generally rests on or just blow the line so the graph is set high in relation to surrounding letters.

triangular looped head which rejoins the stem at shoulder-level.

here the tail of 'h' extends clockwise beneath preceding graphs. The length and sweep of the tail of 'h' has an impact on the aspect of the folio.

long 'r' is used all the time and in every position except after 'o'.

'r' in final position with flourish. The fork of the graph appears at line level.

sigma 's' is used in initial position.

'w' is generally looped at the head. There is a 'B'-shaped element to the right.

the tail of 'y' is fine and mostly a straight stroke.

as with 'h', the long, fine tails of 'y' have an impact on the aspect of the folio.

Thorn and Yogh

thorn is used mainly to abreviate 'that' and 'the'.

occasionally thorn is used to replace 'th'.
