Pagination:An earlier pagination running through volume in ink in upper outer corners recto and verso to f110 (numbered 210 but crossed out and corrected to 209). Pencil foliation begins with flyleaves, so text proper begins on f5; continues to f110, begins again for part 2, all in upper outer corners recto; pencil also numbers paper flyleaves of the older rebinding, so i to iii at front and iv to vi at back.

Catchwords:In lower right of verso last leaf in quire, ' down blank at bottom and lined up to end at right frame line, with sleigh on left and under, pointing at lower left, on f14v by scribe of first quire; none on f22v because blank; on f30v could be Hoccleve's hand though he didn't write that leaf; none on f38v because blank; on f46v and f54v by scribe who wrote that section; none on f62v because blank; on f70v and ff78v and 86v by scribe who wrote that section; none on f94v since blank and end of original formulary.

Frame:3 x vertical, two enclosing text block and a third about 5 mm toward outer edge from the outer one, marking off space between glosses and text block or on some leaves, eg up to f22v, 5 x vertical adding a double set on outer edge of the gloss frame; 4 x horizontal, enclosing top and bottom lines; ruled within; all in brown-reddish crayon; some pricking survives at outer edges and occasionally right at edge of bottom and top.
Writing Space:ca. 188 x 138 ruled space within frame
Marginal Headings:Glosses explain the type of each letter, in outer margin, to find form easily.
Title by Scribe:Begins 'Edwardus' on f5.
Illuminated Initials:Illuminated initials from f5-14v.
Paragraph Marks:Red and blue paraphs.
Flourished Initials:Plain lombard initials in red or blue after f14v.
Other Names (not owners):'Sum Mulcasteri' back first parchment leaf (f1v) above bookplate with King George 1715; on f30 of part 2, 17th c? or 16th, 'Wyllm paylee' and by same hand, 'Wyllm Danyell; see Seymour for others.
Miscellaneous Info:At least five hands in this Signet Formulary of which we have examined three of the earliest and most significant.
