Usage: a
double compartment 'a' is the favoured graph.

single compartment 'a' occurs occasionally.
Usage: delycate
image to show the size of 'a' which is frequently, though not always, larger than the letters on either side.

The upper compartment has an extended stroke which forms an upstand at the head, and the lower compartment has an extended stroke at the right forming a small overhang. The lower compartment tends to be oval in shape and sits back from the upper compartment.
